Some comics invite you in gently. Creatures & Corridors grabs your sleeve.
What struck me most here was rhythm. The book does not spend forever explaining its rules and then hope the reader sticks around for the payoff. It starts with a charged social dynamic, introduces the danger quickly, and keeps pressing forward once reality begins slipping out of place. That forward motion is the whole pleasure.
I especially liked the way the story turns game logic into emotional pressure. Choices matter, but not in an abstract puzzle-box way. Every decision feels tangled up with fear, guilt, loyalty, or grief. That keeps the fantasy machinery from feeling mechanical. The book moves because the characters have to keep moving.
By the back half, the atmosphere has shifted from weird-kid intrigue to full haunted descent, and the escalation lands because the earlier pages built enough attachment to the group. I was not reading to admire the concept anymore. I was reading to see who could survive it.
If you like graphic novels that understand how to pull a reader through on momentum and tension, this one is very much worth your time.
