I started The Advent House because the Cuba setting intrigued me. I finished it at 1am because I literally could not put it down. Gabriela! Tomas! The uncles from hell! State security closing in! This book had me reading past midnight.
Jorgenson builds tension like a master. Every time the characters think they’ve found a way through, something else closes in. The Bavarian Advent house as the key to their survival is genuinely unexpected — I did not see that coming and I loved it completely.
The ending delivers. I can’t say more without spoiling it, but if you want a thriller with real heart underneath the suspense, this is the one.
