Who Is Anna Stenberg? grabbed me and did not let go. I started it for the Victorian setting and stayed because I genuinely had no idea what was going to happen next — which is exactly what I want.

The setup is excellent: girl fleeing murderous father, finds shelter with mysterious pickpocket Anna, disguises herself as a boy named Viktor to survive. Already great. Then it gets stranger and better — the mystery of Anna’s actual activities, the investigation into the protagonist’s missing mother, and then the supernatural elements roll in and everything escalates.

The friendship between the two characters is the emotional engine. Completely in the vortex with this one.
